About Merillion:
Hello, I live in Northern NJ and my husband and I have been married for many years. (Bob says, “many l o o o o o n g years”). He grew up in Nutley, NJ; I grew up in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY. I have family in Staten Island and in eastern Florida. I love art, and like to paint in oils. Have been studying painting for a long time. (I’m an amateur, not a professional). Just recently got interested in WordPress & I find that I like writing more than I ever did. Now I’m trying to make my site good to look at, but totally don’t know what I’m doing yet! All I know is I think a lot, and it feels good to write down all the thoughts from all the years into my blog. I’m not saying I actually remember all the thoughts from all the years, but I think of a few now and then.

Have been in touch with Jill Jertson and Olaf Lund as I too am of the Lund descendant tree from Vining (my grandfather was Charles a brother of Thea Lund Herre). Now I need to read your blog. Have a great interest in geneology and finding family that has become disconnected. Hope to hear from you.

I have an interesting thing from the paper regarding Einar Herre, if you are interested……written by the pastor here that met him in NJ. Would enjoy corresponding with you. Thanks

I am the granddaughter of Thea’s sister Gudrun Lund Thoen from Minneapolis Minnesota. Thea’s parents were Anna and Andrew T. Lund from Vining Minnesota. Please let me know if we are related. Thea’s sister Gudrun was very artistic -an accomplished painter and pianist. Sincerely, Jill

Hi! I am from Norway and I am doing research to find american relatives. Are you the grandchild of Jacob Herre and Thea Lund Herre? If so, we are related through Thea’s father who came from Norway.

Aunt Marilyn,
I remember when Aunt Susan taught me how to knit when I was a little kid (think we lived in the same apartment building in NY)
Now dont tell any of my buddies I used to be a knitter .. ok ?
LOL
Love you.

Hello My Nephew,
I bet you still remember how to knit. I tried knitting a sweater once, with very fine needles & fine yarn. Ended up knitting the needles together. Gave up!
I promise I won’t tell anyone about your knitting lessons.
(where did I put my contacts list?):)
Love You!

Hello, Marianne,
First, thanks so much for the compliments & kind words!
I totally agree with you re the Herre clan. When I read your blog, I had the thought about apples not falling far from the tree (“The Herre Tree.”):).
I remember from way back your Great Grandmother Thea, sitting in our living rm in Brooklyn, with her knitting bag w/the wooden handles, chatting as she worked. She also painted, & was very into needlework. Susan is a lot like her – loves crafts, crochet, etc.
I will definitely keep in touch.
Love, Marilyn

I love your blog! It has everything – whimsy, patriotism, beauty, love. I’m so glad that Susan mentioned it to me. You and I must have been infused with our love for words and art from the Herre clan for I don’t believe there is a speck of it in the Hares. I know my grandma was an avid reader and did the NY Times crossword in pen. That and her musical talent makes my theory a certainty! Best regards and keep in touch!
